It is very easy to use and the sensor is excellent. My dog is an Old English bully and 80 lbs, so it's really hard to find nail clippers that can slice through the nail without crushing it. These clippers were still a little tough, so definitely give your dog a bath first. His nails are clear but I assume the clippers will work for black nails. Make sure you buy some extra batteries because they don't last very long (they are tiny little circular ones).

These nail clippers are a great idea but the product does need improvement. The clippers themselves are sharp & clip big dog nails pretty good but as for the battery & light to tell you that it is safe to clip definitely needs improvement because the battery cover keeps falling off & the little button batteries fall out , they do not snap in therefore they are loose & jiggle around which makes the lights not work properly either and they do not turn on all the time when pushing the "on" button. Fighting with the battery cover, the batteries & trying to get them to turn on is not worth money that they want for these nail clippers, just not worth it. I had a pair & my friend got a pair & both were the same way with the same problems. Do not recommend them until they come out with an improved version that resolves these issues with them.Read full review

My dog is very adamant about NOT getting nails cut, so I struggle no matter what type of clipper I use.. I found the light on these clippers was not always lit when I was ready to clip...so I had to move them around to get any light and in that time lose any willingness on the part of the dog. This is an extreme case where the vet has refused to clip her nails anymore. For the average dog, I think this is a good product.

It worked 2 times, and not well when it did work. If it touched the paw at all, it went red. Had to restart it several times. Then, it stopped turning on so I thought it was the batteries already. So I starting looking for replacements. 2 days later, I tried and it turned on, but immediately goes red. Wait a few more days, then it would turn on and go green, then red immediately upon touching anything. The manufacturer ignores all my attempts to contact them. Last time I buy this brand. i should have known by the cheap packaging and artwork that it was China junk.

I have a black Pomeranian with black nails. Always had problems Cutting her nails without hitting the quick. Love these clippers. Be sure to read the directions and make sure the sensor is facing the correct direction on dogs nail. It DOES matter greatly. These are a lot more heavy duty than I need for my 2 small dogs but they do what they are supposed to. They do come with the round button batteries for the sensor and they are very easy to install.
