    So so so close..

My father God rest his soul he used to have a couple of these, but they weren't made of whatever type of metal this one is made of. The one my father bought back in the 1940s or 50s, was black. Maybe it was made of cast-iron, I don't know. But for some reason, no matter how much butter or oil or nonstick spray I sprayed on the inside surface of this one, the sandwiches seem to stick. Not the entire sandwich, but pieces of the corners here and there. It kind of ruins what could be the perfect grilled sandwich. I gave it four out of five stars for that reason. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but are used to use my father's Sandwich maker a lot, and I'm pretty sure I know how it works. But it'sstill worth the price if you like to go camping and want a nice hot sandwich. I recommend it anyway.

Too small to grill a sandwich for an adult..Child size grill!!!!

This sandwich maker is about 1/2 the size of the original one which is what I thought I purchased. One of the rings on the handle got loose immediately. This takes about a 1/2 slice of bread where the original one takes a whole slice minus the crust.

  • Childhood memories

Make your own customized alternative to a popular mass-produced pocket-style sandwich. As a child, I loved simple grilled cheese Toas-Tites, but the possibilities for the filling is endless. When I discovered that the Toas-Tite maker was back in production, I had to buy one and I'm glad I did, because they're as good as I remember. The Toas-Tite maker, itself, is very well made, just like the original.

  • Great little sandwich maker

As a child my mom made us kids grilled cheese sandwiches in this same type of sandwich maker. Having one now that is exactly like I remember as a child brings back fond memories grieving up. I hope that my grandchildren will have those sand memories of me when they grow up.

  • Great item for the past

Bought this for my son since he had asked where was the one that I used to use to make sandwiches for him and his siblings when they were growing up. He loves it.

  • Sealed Sandwich

Wanted to make these sealed sandwiches and this works great. It's heavy duty, the wood handles and clip to keep it shut work well. I did season per the manual but found after a few sandwiches I had to apply oil again as there was some sticking. Otherwise, very fun to use.

  • Toas-Tite Hot Pocket Sandwich Grill

Had the original in the 1950’s. My mom use to make me cheese sandwiches in it over our gas stove. This replica does the same job and taste the same. Love it. A little bit of nostalgia is just what I needed.

  • Just like the original

I used one of these as a kid and loved it. It had been in the household since the late 1940s, (I think) and it got a lot of use due to its versatility and ease of use. The new ones are very faithful to the original, and the packaging even looks authentic enough to be original. It comes with a recipe book, but you'll soon be creating your own specialties. It's a great product for kids to use.
