Solid, Great Tube Sound, and LOUD
I have a bunch of vintage Fender and Vox tube amps, as well as a couple of Line 6 amps but lately they seem to be requiring too much attention to keep them sounding their best. I had a good experience with a Bugera bass amp so I figured I'd give this a shot especially given the great price from MusicGroup. It's built really well has lots of features, has warm, crunchy tube sounds as well as good clean sounds. It may be a little too much amp for me, but I can get a good overdriven sound at lower volumes by adjusting the volume and the gain. My only complaint is on the clean channel there's a crunch and a clean selector and I can't seem to get the clean setting loud enough so if I switch to the crunch setting it's not ridiculously loud. However when switching between the lead and the clean channel I could get consistent volumes and have two distinct tones. I like the fact that it auto biases the tubes; Time will tell if that really works as advertised I guess but right now I'm really happy with it. Clearly the cabinet that you choose will make a big difference in your sound and I'm still experimenting with various options. I certainly would not hesitate to buy another tube amp from Bugera, perhaps next time I'll get a smaller combo like the 55.
