  • Very Happy with this Amp

Honestly this is my first tube amp in 30 years. I've been mostly in the software world with modeling. However, as I've been playing with people again, I picked this up. I've been overjoyed with the sound and options on this. I don't have a lot to compare with, but for a well-rounded fully tube driven amp it works great. I'm used to mosfet and class D amps which have a real DI built in, this is just a 1/4" line out if that concerns you. You'd need a DI box just mic it. With a 2x12 16 Ohm cab I can only really turn it up to 3 before my ears start bleeding.

  • Solid, Great Tube Sound, and LOUD

I have a bunch of vintage Fender and Vox tube amps, as well as a couple of Line 6 amps but lately they seem to be requiring too much attention to keep them sounding their best. I had a good experience with a Bugera bass amp so I figured I'd give this a shot especially given the great price from MusicGroup. It's built really well has lots of features, has warm, crunchy tube sounds as well as good clean sounds. It may be a little too much amp for me, but I can get a good overdriven sound at lower volumes by adjusting the volume and the gain. My only complaint is on the clean channel there's a crunch and a clean selector and I can't seem to get the clean setting loud enough so if I switch to the crunch setting it's not ridiculously loud. However when switching between the lead and the clean channel I could get consistent volumes and have two distinct tones. I like the fact that it auto biases the tubes; Time will tell if that really works as advertised I guess but right now I'm really happy with it. Clearly the cabinet that you choose will make a big difference in your sound and I'm still experimenting with various options. I certainly would not hesitate to buy another tube amp from Bugera, perhaps next time I'll get a smaller combo like the 55.
