Poorly Made & Makes Poor Toast
My review is of the toaster original purchased from Unbeatable sales and a replacement from Oster. Mostly we toast Bole style breads and need the extra length to accommodate that style of bread. The very first piece we toasted was dark on one side, light on the other and burnt on each end. OK, so there is a learning curve and we continued to experiment for more than a week. Consistently the toast was more done on one side than the other and burnt on both ends. Looking at the elements in the toaster when turned on I observed that the glow of the heating elements was very nonuniform on any given side and dramatically brighter or more exposed on either end. This certainly explained the irregularity of its toasting. I contacted Oster direct for a replacement. They were willing to replace with the same or comparably priced model. This model was rated 2 1/2 star on their site and the only similar model was a 2 star. Hoping I had a defective toaster I replaced it with the same model. The toaster was not defective it's simply an Poorly made toaster that makes poor toast. Now I'm out the money with no toast to show for it. Long-Slot Toaster
I was looking for a long-slot toaster because we buy hand-made artisan loaves that makes long slices when you cut it. I like the look of the toaster and the buttons work nicely. The toast is evenly cooked for the most part, although if you are only toasting one slice it does not have a specific side for that function and one side will be a little darker than the other. The main down-side in my experience of this toaster is the sound it makes when the toast pops up. It makes a little click that speaks to me of cheap thin metals.
