It comes in a compact design and offers superior load and line voltage regulation. It comes with a plug-in horsepower resistor. With great suspense I flipped the switch and the light came on. Next , started turning the dial, the 1/2 hp DC motor began to hum then slowly began to turn. Elation came over me as I had gotten everything wired correctly.. It is a good thing that there are three options of speed using the three step-down pulley on the lathe, but better that there is control of speed from zero to motor rating of 1750 rpms on each of those positions of the belt.
