WORTH A WATCH.
All the actors perform well but doing the film in 2 halves does distract from the story and in fact adds very little. Major plot lines are discarded or changed quite dramatically from the book. Unfortunately I felt that the actress playing Little Dorrit gave quite a flat lack lustre performance and why she loved Mr Clennam was unclear, apart from his kindness to the family. Overall I would have to recommend the remake as a better version with Clare Foy as Little Dorrit.

A poorly produced slow dreary version of this classic Dickens masterwork.
Little Dorrit - a classic Dickensian tale of wicked treachery and vile satanic cruelty – is the book that propelled the abolition of ‘debtors prisons’. This dramatisation is slow and dreary; seriously disjointed; and it completely misses the points made in Dickens masterwork. It would benefit from a complete re-edit to bring coherence and remove or shorten scenes that slow the pace; do not add value; or fail to push the story along.

A Great Performance of Little Dorrit.
This is an excellent production of Dicken 'Little Dorrit'. Unlike the original book, the story is told in two parts: firstly from the perspective of Arthur Clennem, returning from China after 20 years to the puzzle of a family secret. This is very clever, because it allows the watcher to see the story, but still have some important information with held. At the end of this part the general story is known, but there are many unanswered questions. In part two the story is told from the perspective of Amy 'Little' Dorrit. At first there are just a few overlaps that help the watcher to piece together what is happening, then more scenes, that were omitted from the first part, because Arthur Clennem was not present at the time, help to fill in the missing information to give the complete story. Inevitably, some of the book has to be left out, simply because there is so much of it. Certain secondary plots and sub-stories are either completely ignored, or vastly shortened, to allow for the main plot. It also would be extremely hard to follow, if all the book was included, and the plot is quite complicated enough as it is. There are large numbers of famous names acting here. And the ones that are not famous also do an excellent job. One feature I would like to see included is subtitles. Some of the dialogue is very rapidly spoken, as fits the character described by Dickens, but this does make it hard to keep up with everything said at times. You will need to allow about 3 hours per session when watching this, because it is hard to pick up each section part way through. This really is a first-class production.

British Cinema at its best.
Little Dorrit, adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens, is a great story. The, two films in this production, are well made and acted by a very fine cast. It is worth the time to see it. I may now disappoint some people reading this, but sorry, there are no space aliens, monsters or vampires. Just an extremely good and engaging story to get lost in for a few hours.

Little Dorrit is a treat.
Lovely production. I’m glad the blackmailing Blandois was left out of it. Definitely worth the investment. Only the sound is a little lacking; hard to discern the conversation at times. Very pleased with it.

Excellent Film
Very true to the story - I have read Little Dorrit. The characters are exactly as portrayed by Charles Dickens. I was totally engrossed and watched both films in the same day. I particularly enjoyed the cast interviews, which were a delightful extra. To see the very talented actors playing these parts when they were so much younger than now, was an especial delight. These two films were actually made in 1987, so the quality far exceeded my expectations. Strongly recommend to fans of Charles Dickens.
