This atmospheric series, set in WW2, is surprisingly gripping. The main character is slightly understated in Michael Kitchen's brilliant acting in which he is so ably supported by other members of the cast. Not only are the settings believable but the sometimes petty and paranoid attitudes of people in general during a time of war and skilfully reflected. There is also the ongoing stress for Foyle, having lost his wife and worried about his son. Series 1-5 takes you up to the end of the war. The later series are post war. I am enjoying revisiting Foyle's War. If you haven't seen this programme before, you will almost certainly be pleasantly surprised. If, like me, you are revisiting, you will know what to expect.

Bought this set for my uncle who lives in a care home. Foyles war is one of his favourite programs. Keeps saying he has not seen some of the episodes and is really pleased.

What an amazing collection of various crimes. The characters are well cast and so is the acting. Very authentic and really captures the mood of the second world war.

An exceptionally good series, the actors are perfect for the parts they play and it's great to see the old fashioned values which are sadly missing in todays world. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them

This has been the best series on television for a long time. Brilliantly written and the characters fit together superbly and Michael Kitchen is brilliant as DCS Foyle.
