Product Information

If you are shopping for bookshelf speakers that offer you a huge bang for your buck, then the Polk RTi A1 speaker is highly recommended. The RTi A1 is a two-way, front-ported bookshelf speaker that is bi-wireable and magnetically shielded. The accompanying 1-inch silk/polymer composite dome tweeter and 5.25-inch polymer mineral composite woofer were both designed using Polk’s proprietary Dynamic Balance technology, which uses a full-field heterodyning laser interferometer system to analyze and minimize the resonances of speaker drive units. Underneath a cherry (or black) veneer, you find five layers of laminate. These make up the shape of each speaker. In each model in this series, Polk employs Damp Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation. This is a unique speaker cabinet design that offers a more durable construction and strong enclosure. These units also have five-way, gold-plated connection posts. For ease of installation, these posts are far apart so that setup in simple. The Polk RTi A1 loudspeakers floating grilles are designed to minimize diffraction to provide a more realistic tonal balance and spacious imaging. Ideal for both home theater and music systems, the RTi A1audio system looks and sounds phenomenal. This compact bookshelf speaker combines a 5.25-inch Dynamic Balance midrange driver with a 1-inch Dynamic Balance Dome tweeter to provide solid performance and elegant styling in a convenient size. A patented bass venting design smoothly transitions airflow, eliminating turbulence and audio distortion, for deeper, more efficient bass impact, and innovative crossover eliminates cone filtering and beaming for higher-quality audio and a more expansive sound stage. In designing the mid-range subwoofer and tweeter, Polk uses Dynamic Balancing, in which a laser is used to study the components of the speaker at microscopic level to eliminate any audio behaviors or artifacts that color the sound. Another process, called Klippel Optimization, is employed to ensure that the RTi A1 speaker system offers a balanced frequency response and sound at both high and low volumes. In terms of ports, Polk RTi A1 stereo speaker is designed to ensure moving air that's travelling out of the system does so smoothly. The design also ensures that the bass output has minimum distortion. This is accomplished by using a rear-filtering audio port (known as the Powerport). This feature is designed to minimize turbulence in the air, getting rid of “chuffing.” This provides a more authoritative bass with deeper, cleaner sound. Polk Audio has built another quality product at an affordable price with the RTi A1 Loudspeaker. It looks brilliant in its all-wood veneer, offers plenty of detail, control, and excellent dynamics that comes together to reproduce multichannel source signals with an invitingly three-dimensional soundstage. This bookshelf speaker is available in cherry or black and offers a solid bass performance along with tremendous dynamics from the bottom end to the top.

  • AWESOME speakers!

I have been an audiophile most of my life. These speakers are by far the best speakers I have ever owned. Clarity is crystal clear. These bass response on these little boogers rival that of much larger floor standing speakers. The audio separation is outstanding. Audio frequency response is fairly consistent across all volume levels. These puppies blow the Klipsch RB-81 bookshelf pair out of the water. Sound imaging is incredible on these things. These speakers make music come alive like no other bookshelf I've ever heard! If you are looking for a top-of-the-line bookshelf pair on a budget, give these a listen. You won't regret it.

  • A simple WOW, these are punching well above their price point.

I’ve been assembling an old school Pioneer 70s era 2.0 stereo system and in the process am rediscovering the wonderful sound quality of this old gear. I chose these speakers as an upgrade to a legacy pair of Polk bookshelf speakers to be played in a small room 10’x12’ space, I always thought the old Polks sounded great, and after reading several audiophile reviews, decidedly saw these newer speakers would address one if the weaknesses often seen in ported speakers, specifically a boomy/muddy low end susceptible to loss of some detail in complex compositions . I am very happy to report that the RTi a1 far exceed my expectation and brought missing detail to the table as well as reaching farther into the lower end on musical performances. Though I may ad a subwoofer to go even deeper, these smallish bookshelve speakers do a superb job on their own. I’m blown away with the sound I’m getting from these little guys. They arrived at my door ahead of schedule well packaged with original manuals included. I got them at amazing price and will gladly by from this vendor again. I’ve got them connected to a Pioneer SX450 reciever with the controls set flat, and a 10 band BSR graphic EQ, and a Stanton turntable. I’m also delivering HD audio via an Amazon FireTV stick ported to the receiver via Headphone out on the TV to the aux-in on the receiver with very good results as well. My go to music is classic rock & blues. I also love jazz, bluegrass and electronic music. These speakers handle all this with ease, I’m hearing a more true to life aspect to the sound, and a tremendous amount of detail in all registers of the audio band. Granted my 64 year old ears aren’t what they used to be, my EQ settings are almost flat and the speakers are sitting on a deep shelf with about 8” of clear space behind the cabinets and they are at ear level and my head is about 8” from the back wall, these speakers are warmer than expected in this position as my ears are being placed in the worst spot in the room to encounter the dreaded boomy sound where clarity is lost. Nudging the sliders down a few dB at the very bottle negates the boomies. Just an awesome set of speakers.

  • Excellent

These are fantastic speakers, well worth the price. I'm so glad I didn't buy the Klipsch. I had heard the Klipsch at a mega store but not the Polks. These Polks are very clean and have that bass that isn't blasting and booming. Depending on what kind of music the bass is in the arena but not in your face. If I do buy a subwoofer I will listen to brands before I buy, but will lean towards Polk. Yes and the delivery was in two days with no damage at all.
