Over 10 years ago when I bought the Bose Acoustimass 10 Series II Speaker System, I read MANY, MANY reviews. Boiled down, it came to this: - this is the least-expensive yet serious entry-level system into audiophile home theater speaker system - audiophiles cringe when hearing of 'Bose' speakers, because Bose engineers aren't interested in producing accurate reproductions of music, they want it to sound GREAT to our human ears. Same goes for me. I have had these paired to my Onkyo TX-SV515PRO since the day I brought them home. My Onkyo is set flat for bass and treble and they sound fantastic for movies in Dolby 5.1. My Onkyo is not a DTS receiver. You really feel the movies and it's very immersive. The voices come from the center channel which you put as close to the center of your TV as you can, the left and right speakers provide most of the action and environment and the rear speakers are exactly like they're supposed to be: invisible and silent until something actually happens back there. Like an explosion from behind you or when a jet flies over your head and past you from the camera/screen's perspective. Some folks make the early mistake or haven't yet learned you're NOT supposed to hear surround/rear speakers all the time, only when stuff happens behind you. I played with subwoofer positioning to get the most out of it, and for me I found turning it sideways with the port facing the corner gets the most out if it in my particular room. The instructions say face it right out into the room toward the audience but that didn't produce enough low end. I didn't want to bump up the bass on the receiver, so I found the best position for my room. I can highly recommend this system if you really, really enjoy movies. Top Gun, Transformers, and more sound great and when you're watching a comedy or other stuff it sounds perfect as well, clear voices, accurate sounds coming from where they should. Something that surprises and impresses me with this system even to this day is how quiet it can be and how LOUD it can be. If you're trying to not disturb others in another room, you can hear voices clearly. When you want to feel like you're living Black Hawk Down you can do that too. I recommend these speakers to others, and one day will upgrade my receiver, I think the 80 watts per channel I'm sending to the speakers now is underpowered and would love to hear it on 100 watts or more per channel.Read full review
sounds way better than model: 5, 6, 7. This is not redline cubes speakers. so they sounds better. the quality and nice design. I don't like built in with amp. Cause it's has so many problem. By pass or passive sounds clean and good sounds over all for small room.
I love the quality of the sound setup and acoustics that you get with this system and envelops the room with it. Ok, thats the good. The bad, the subwoofer stinks....BAD. While the highs and mids are AWSOME..you have to instantly upgrade the sub in order to get theatre quality sound. NOT TO MENTION you have to buy a quality receiver/amp. I had a 535W Sony system that provided 100W per channel and had digital surround. That receiver and the old subwoofer that came with it gave the Bose system the perfect life. Together, sounds better than theatre and anyone elses' system. Great PART of a full system, but not the full system. You will NOT be dissapointed if you buy these, a quality subwoofer, and receiver. These speakers retail 999.00, 375.00 for a decent subwoofer, and around 300 for a decent receiver. Total around 1600.00 for full setup. FYI...dont upgrade to different Bose..they are the same. Subs suck and need good receiver.Read full review
Really? you really wanna know how good its sound? let me tell you after I hooked up the system the sound is horrible, the high and mid were all mixed bag,it's has no clarity, the Sub.is weak the sub has no amp build into it so its using and depend on your receiver or amp to power, you must replace the Sub.with an amp build in,Bose did a good job in advertized there products with all the hype,I would not recommend to a friend, there are other choices out there sound a lot better for a whole lot less,I gave this Bose to my sister and bought Klipsch RF-7 II and RF-82 II and the sound is outstanding, the difference is day and night.
It works very well the double cube speakers really put out a lot of sound for how small they are. The only thing it was missing a rca hook up but I learned how to hook up a rca cable to speaker wires but it was good other than that little problem
