In a secret world of forbidden knowledge, power comes at a terrible price...Quentin Coldwaters life is changed forever by an apparently chance encounter: when he turns up for his entrance interview to Princeton he finds his interviewer dead - but a strange envelope bearing Quentins name leads him down a very different path to any hed ever imagined. The envelope, and the mysterious manuscript it contains, leads to a secret world of obsession and privilege, a world of freedom and power and, for a while, its a world that seems to answer all Quentins desires. But the idyll cannot last - and when its finally shattered, Quentin is drawn into something darker and far more dangerous than anything he could ever have expected...

Highly recommended." -Library Journal (Starred Review) "Very dark and very scary, with no simple answers provided-fantasy for grown- ups, in other words, and very satisfying indeed." -Kirkus Reviews "... provocative, unput-downable ... one of the best fantasies I've read in ages." -Fantasy & Science Fiction "The Magiciansis to Harry Potter as a shot of Irish whiskey is to a glass of weak tea." -George R.R. • Very Enjoyable Good Story Line

Hard for me to put down. As said before, "Harry Potter" for adults. Easy to read, can't wait to finish so I can start Book 2, I got all three . The way this book was written keeps you wondering what is going to happen next.
