The AT875R is a great shotgun condenser microphone. I did a lot of research before deciding on an affordable mic that I will use for a myriad of purposes including field recording, interviews and even voice over. The price was right too. A GREAT CHOICE FOR CLOSE-UP VOICER WORK! COMPARE TO THE SENNHEISER 416 SHOTGUN!
I am a veteran voiceover artist and VO coach, so I've owned many different mics, and talked into units costing many thousands of dollars.Yet this inexpensive little mic blew me away! IT'S A GREAT MIC, REGARDLESS OF PRICE. The famous VO audio engineer George "the tech" Whittam compared this to the $1,100 Sennheiser 416 shotgun in an online video, declaring that this AT mic had better tonal balance than the 416, with less high-end harshness. He also suggested that, in some VO booth applications, the AT might well be the better choice! I agree! Best little shotgun mic around
I love this microphone! This is the second AT875R microphone i've owned and i bought it again because they are so good... especially for the price. I can mount it on a small camera and get great audio from people speaking as well as musicians performing. It's as if they are personally miked. The only thing you have to remember is that it is a condenser microphone without it's own power supply, so you need to provide phantom power for it to work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Good for on-camera use

Excellent microphone, best shotgun I've used so far in that price range!
I own a RØDE NTG2 and this microphone, and the difference is amazing! this microphone outperforms the NTG2 hands down! For 100$ less than the RØDE, this microphone has a very good pickup pattern and an excellent off-axis rejection.
