  • Audix i5 instrument mic

So I used i5’s a lot both at studio sessions and live stage environment and it’s a great sounding reliable mic. Finally I got one myself. Recommend to anyone dealing with guitar cabs or drums. I also discovered it can be used nicely as a background vocals mic live. Build quality is premium. USA made.

  • AUDIX i5 Takes the WIN!! Minimal EQ

The reason why I bought this mic, it's because you really don't need to EQ really. I record my drums for my own songs in my home Studio and I prefer to have mics that can capture the sound where, I don't need to be EQing until it's perfect! It already takes the sound that you want for he snare. I also have a Shure sm57 and when you do side by side comparison Audix i5 takes the WIN, Minimal EQ if anything.

  • Brighter, more open than the SM57

This was designed as Audix's answer to the venerable SM57. It has a similar EQ curve to the 57, but extends a little farther into the high frequencies which gives a brighter, more open sound. I find the 57 a bit dark for my taste so I prefer the i5, particularly on my guitar amp.

  • Pretty awesome mic

Got these used mics after seeing a pro drummer using them. The first thing I noticed was that they created an amazing sound signature. I found an outstanding deal on eBay and took a chance on them. 2 days after receiving them my son - the drummer, used them to record his bands first album. These babies didn't disappoint. They helped capture his sound perfectly. Super tight dynamic sound was the result. I'm glad I got these.

  • Excellent dynamic microphone

Very good sounding dynamic cardioid microphone. I personally prefer the sound to the Shure SM57. Both are good mics, the Audix sound quality is a bit cleaner.

  • Road Tested, Mother Approved

This is one tough mic. Not made of plastic like most of the cheaper mics you find on the market, and the sound is top notch. I chose these mics over Shure SM57's because they sounded better to my ear, and the touugher construction--metal vs plastic, which is important when you're using them on drums. I'm not a wildman behind the kit, but it's good insurance to have in case I do have the occasional miss. It's definitely made a huge difference in my sound, and I will continue to be an Audix customer for years to come.
