The Rode NT4 is a stereo recording microphone featuring dual cardioid capsules mounted in a X/Y stereo configuration. The microphone is designed for field or studio use and provides transparent sound reproduction and accurate representation of signal within the "Left/Right" stereo field. This provides optimum results when capturing live performances, ambiance, instruments, choruses, choirs etc. The NT4's pressure gradient capsules feature cardioid polar patterns which effectively minimize off-axis audience, instrument and ambient noise resulting in accurate recordings of the desired source material. The microphone's dual elements are matched in frequency response and sensitivity for accurate sound reproduction on both left and right stereo channels. The NT4 features an On/Off switch for added control and is powered via Phantom Power or standard 9 volt alkaline battery. Third Rode stereo mic
This is the third Rode stereo mic I have owned. I am a Folklorist and Ethnomusicologist and use these to do on location recording of traditional music. This one sounds as good as the other two. Stereo spacial
This mic works well on my acoustic guitars (nylon and steel). This is my first foray into stereo mics and the results are good. The mic is not as sensitive as my large diaphragm mic (Groove Tubes Gt-66). This might affect the nuance of the recorded sounds, but cuts down on unwanted external noise. Good mic.
I've gone through many mics over the years. This Rode NT4 is the best instrument mic I have. It maintains a realistic and true sound. Anyway, I'm glad I have it. If there is a down side (and there is) it is the rubber mic clip. It's simply not strong enough to hold the mic when changing the angle. The mic can easily be pulled out by either lifting up or down, or by sliding it through. Anyway, I will replace it. Right now I'm using one of clips from one of my NT3s. Very effective in reducing wind noise
Foam filters are not very good at reducing wind noise, they are for reducing the popping of p's while speaking and for keeping saliva out of your microphone. These fur covers really do a great job of reducing wind noise.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
