  • Brilliant an beautiful.

I use this mic primarily for recording voices: it handles full throttle blues, chamber chorale, small-ensemble opera and spoken word. Like any mic, it has its own color palette of sound: I find its detail slight warmth really attractive. And there are many mics around -- AKG 214/414 come to mind -- that are a joy to work with. And I have the former. However, to date, there isn't a performer I have worked with who isn't even modestly impressed with how the Bluebird looks. For performers who are not spectrum audio nerds, and who are not well-acquainted with audio capture in performance, I have witnessed active competition to record on the 'beautiful' mic. And I always appreciate mic manufacturers who design and include a protective box, rather than just pouch. (I am also a digital camera op, and would never toss a lens into an unpadded device box for transport). When you're hucking mics to a session, or mushing them in at the last minute, its nice to know there's just one more protective envelope around the only device that ultimately stands between a recording technician and recording medium, a performing artist and a great recording.

  • My go to mic.

A noise level of 7.5 dB (A-weighted) is what I require, and the ability to adjust the audio is more than I can ask for—I love it. I also purchased the Blue Bottle mic. Man, I'm in seventh heaven.

  • Great value

The Bluebird is a great step up from my other Chinese LDC mics, having a much smoother, silkier top end. It came with accessories that surprised me at this price point. I have not had a lot of opportunities to put it through its paces just yet, but it has performed very well where I have used it (primarily on both male and female vocals, as well as limited use on acoustic guitar). My use is in a personal / project studio.

  • Very clear sound

I've had this mic for about a month and I really like it. It gives a very clear sound and is very directional, which is something I'm not used to in condenser mics. This turned out to be a pleasent surprise since I record both in a professional studio and a home studio, and in the latter I have bleed out noises from my computer and other sources. I own a Samson C03 and the result from recording with it is that I can never really compress vocals much without picking up noises. With the Bluebird I nearly don't pick them up, which results in a very professional sound without being in the most professional of enviroments. I would recommend this mic to anyone going for a more professional sound in their home studio. I suppose that mixed with a decent PRE you'd get an excellent result.

  • Big fan

I've had my share of mics over the last 25 years. I've always struggled to spend more than 100 bucks on a mic. I finally broke down and bought this bluebird. The quality is phenomenal and it doesn't cost much considering the quality. Mine is made in China. I know they have a USA version too. Mics get way more expensive than this, but for me, this is a quality product that delivers a true representation of the sound it captures. Requires 48v phantom power. The blue shock mount for this runs about 100 bucks. Not worth it in my opinion. Rockville has a shock mount for $10 that works perfectly and seems more stable actually. I love blue mics. This is definitely a step above the blue spark, which is still a solid mic. I have zero complaints.
