    A very good mid-priced digitiser

There are other, very much more expensive digitisers that are available on the market. However, for what I paid for this scanner I am more than pleased at the results obtained in scanning my old slides. As always on passing the digitised output through my usual photo software further brings the results truer to life. There are a few minor niggles, for example the scanned files are given a digital time stamp when they are saved to the SD card. However, this is not the current date and time and there is no way of setting this on the scanner. Time zero appears to be that linked to that of the embedded operating system. Overall, a very useful work horse that gives good results. If you need to keep digital memories of older media for occasional use and not wanting to get super large images then this is perfect. Should you want the very best that your slides are capable of and create large prints then you need to look for a professional grade scanner at considerably greater cost.

Quick and simple but not 14MP and savagely crops photos

The description says that this is a 14MP device but it is actually 13MP (4416 x 2944 which equals 13,000,704 pixels). It also forcibly crops about 15% of the image area. I contacted Veho about these issues via their website but received no reply. It isn't actually a scanner, rather a captive camera - there are no moving parts which do any scanning. But for that reason, it takes a few seconds to capture an image compared to several minutes with a true slide scanner that I have used connected to a Mac - pre-scan, scan and then the software spends another minute processing before the image is saved. It's difficult to say how accurate the colours are from negatives as they are quite old, they appear to have low colour saturation but slides seem to be fairly accurate. However, it is very easy to use and if you want a reasonably high resolution device to digitally capture your old photos and don't mind the cropping as well as being misled about the resolution, it is probably worth the money and is less hassle than using an actual scanner.

  • Great piece of kit

Easy to use however you need top end software such as photoshop to get good results, first to invert negative image then use auto tone or auto levels to get a good result, initial scan is washed out and not satisfying but when processed gives great results

  • Suppose for the price it is reasonable value, but no more.

Works very quickly compared to my flat bed scanner, however images are not as good. Will work on family type jobs, but not high quality images, washing out the colour slightly. Don't like having to pick it up to look at the image on the screen each time. Lead on the back is easily dislodged, which I think can only get worse with use.

  • Easy to use digital film scanner that gives good quality on any film format neg or pos.

Works very good as an easy to use film scanner. Also takes 110 neg film as well as other small formats and auto adjusts size and resolution. Saves all images to an SD card that you can remove to your computer. All in all - a nice looking freestanding unit that is worth the cost.

  • Just the Job!

Very easy to use I saved images to SD Card as jpeg from some old colour negatives. The film holder very good at keeping the film flat and in place, the scan was very quick so the job was done in no time.

  • How easy is this?! BOOM!

Great bit of kit, built in battery allows you to sit relaxed while scanning your treasured family slides - saving them straight on to a memory card. Probably one of the easiest things to use. Just sad I’ve run out of slides! Tough enough to loan out to friends and family.

  • Great value for money and great results

A brilliant little scanner for the money, excellent results and so easy to use. No extra software required, just scan away and connect to your PC to transfer the files. The internal battery allows you to use the scanner away from your PC, for example to view scans on a TV, but I haven't tried this yet. The battery charges via the supplied USB cable. The instructions are basic but easy to follow. There is a link to an online manual, but I found this this doesn't work unless you substitute 'us' for 'world' in the URL given. Just bear in mind that you will need to buy an SD card to go with the scanner, it won't work without one.

  • Sturdy, compact and easy to use.

I have been enjoying using this, but would say that the accuracy of the colours does depend upon those on the slide itself. Some of mine are 45 years old and vary in colour and exposure quality, but the scanner can be adjusted for this if the slide is either under or over exposed. It is compact, sturdy and easy to use. It is just what I have been looking for. Amazing value too.

  • Quick and easy conversion

Manage to convert nearly 30 boxes of slides in a few days. Also tried about 15 sets of negatives. There is some slight cropping of the slides, a bit more on the negatives, but generally it didn't matter as the core subject is in the centre of 99% of the photos. Nice to see photos that I haven't seen for many years.
