I normally use a garden hoe to break up soil around borders doing light work and almost always end up slicing through bulbs or roots. I have a hand fork which is fine, but means getting down, working an area (then up again!), which is fine if it's just a small area, I have quite large/deep borders and often have to stretch. I saw this long handled fork and knew it would solve the problem and it does. I'm impressed by the quality and it enables me to work the borders without the problem of back pain (bending and stretching) and knee pain from constantly getting down and up again. It works for me, I'm more inclined to get out and do the work now it's easier for me. Highly recommend and this Draper tool is perfect. Great quality, lightweight yet sturdy, not overpriced (as some are). Definitely worth the money.Read full review

Got this for my partner as he loves gardening but struggles with backache and this is very useful for him to avoid bending too much .

Four stars as it’s not extra long. I’m 5’2” and have to bend to use it so definitely not extra long. The one I left behind at my previous house was much longer. Otherwise it’s quite robust and good quality.

This is ideal for a person with a painful back, the handle is the right length and the tines are the correct length..

I didn’t know there was such a thing as long handled hand fork but I just asked to see there was anything to save from bending so much low and behold there it was. It really does save my back from aching by being crouched down on knees all the time also saves time on boarders. Would definitely recommend this tool.
