Being somewhat exasperated by fabric trying to escape the scissor blades, I asked for help from an experienced seamstress and was told to get Janome serrated scissors. When they arrived, they weren't serrated, or so I thought. I couldn't see any serrations and I couldn't feel any serrations, so, as far as I was concerned, they weren't serrated. However, curiosity got the better of me and I picked up a piece of the slippery fabric and cut it ... no slippage. Clean as a whistle, no jagged edges ... a beautifully clean cut ... they had achieved a professional finish for me. Whatever Janome's manufacturers do must be a trade secret. Oh ... by the way, if they look like other scissors in your workbox, you had better mark them with red nail varnish or something similar with the letter 'S' for 'serrated' or 'special', for that is what they truly are ... special. Janome has a wonderful reputation for quality, and judging by the the products I've purchased from Janome, they intend to keep it. These scissors are engineered to last e.g. the axis pin about which they operate will not become loosened over time, as the nut is locked into position and moves with the scissor blade. A little drop of machine oil to ready them for 'duty' applied to their hinge-pin won't go amiss. Wipe off the surplus and they will probably outlast your career. This is yet another excellent Janome product. DO NOT RUN YOUR FINGER ALONG THE BLADES OF THESE SERRATED SCISSORS, THEY ARE INCREDIBLY SHARP!Read full review
