Timing Belt and water pump replacement - easy-peezy!
When I was off work due to injury I had not the money to pay £500 for a timing belt and water pump replacement for my 1.8 16v Vauxhall Vectra. I once worked with an ex-garage mechanic who spoke of a timing belt holding tool for all cars and makes. I researched a tool for my car and it was the Sealy tool purchased (this item is for future use as the car keeps on going, and I am using the exact same type of product/tool that is now wearing). The belt kit I buy is always GM brand and a I found this was made by Gates. The belt kit and water pump is around the £120 range and the anti-freeze (I now use Prestone as recommended by GM) costs £12. The whole cost is £132 using the Sealy holding tool and following advice from a Haynes workshop manual. I have changed the timing belt and water pump twice now, the previous times was by the garage, mileage on car 180,000 and still goes like a rocket.
