Good CPU
Looks like most others from the outside but it's what you do with it counts! Ok it's not going to help you play the latest games these days but it's the 2nd fastest Core Duo they made and it's very cheap now with plenty of stock around in the UK going spare. Very easy to upgrade to this and double an aging computers CPU benchmark score if you have an older core 2 duo. The slightly faster E8600's are harder to source in the UK and you can be waiting several weeks to get one shipped from China where as the E8500's are readily available and cost the same as two meals at McDonalds.

Agood upgrade for a Dell Optiplex
This CPU gave our Dell optiplex 380 a signficant increase in performance over the E7500 previously installed. It was immediately recognised by the BIOS and the PC runs nice and cool with the existing cooling fan.

A cost-effective upgrade
This was a very cost-effective way of squeezing a bit more life out of an old HP tower. This is the fastest CPU the motherboard will accept and I've gained about 30% more speed for nine quid. It's been running non-stop for a couple of days and is showing no signs of stress. I also bought a 4GB RAM kit from memoryexpert to complete the upgrade.

It's no i5 or i7 but it works in bringing an old Intel 775 motherboard back to life. Good performance for it's age, it will run games nicely with the right graphics card. Perfect for what's needed.
