Much better than expected
I bought this on a bit of a whim, as I had very vague memories of one or two episodes from childhood and wanted a bit of nostalgia. First things first, yes it would be better to call the series 'tales of the predictable', but really that does nothing to detract from the entertainment value - in fact trying to predict the endings is often half the fun. Plus there are some genuinely surprising endings - 'hijack' being the best episode so far for the ending. I probably shouldn't be writing a review until I've watched all the episodes - but there are 112 in total, and even though I've had the occasional evening binge-watching them, I'm still only on about episode 60-something. Each episode is about 25 minutes long, so that's 25 hours I've spent so far! Definitely good value for money on that score. So far the episodes have been far more good than bad, and this has turned out to be one of the most entertaining things I've spent money on in quite a while. A great collection of a significant icon of British TV history, still fun to watch today.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This is a set of short stories by Dahl which are quiet mesmerizing..........they start off with a normal situation, then develop into an intriguing situation - then right at the end in the last ten seconds there is a twist in the tale which is certainly UNEXPECTED and leaves you mesmerized!!
