    Excellent shaver

I needed a shaver with international voltage compatibility for travel to Europe. My old Braun shaver does not have the feature; this new Remington does. It works fine, shaves as close as the Braun without nicks or cuts. It is not intended for use in the shower, and does not have a fancy sanitizing system. You just brush the foil and cutter block with the included brush, and rinse them as needed. I do not need those extra features, so it was nice to get a good shaver for $30 instead of $150+ for a Braun.

Not so good - super loud.

I had this exact model number for a few years and loved it. My son went off to college and took it with him so I bought another one. Something is wrong - it's about 3X louder, extremely obnoxious. It works just as good, but it wakes up the entire house. :-(

  • Good value and does a good job

I have purchased Remington razors in the last 3 years that did not work well, hold a charge or give a close shave. This razor does all that. The one drawback is the pop out trimmer. It does not work as well as the previous ones that slide up as opposed to pop out. Two big advantages of this razor is it shows how much charge you have left and you can wash this razor's heads with water.

  • Works great for the money

The shaver gives a nice close shave. I don't think you can beat it for the money. You don't have to push too hard. It is able to rinsed with water which is nice. On my shaver you can get about three more shaves after the red light comes on. Good economical shaver.

  • Good Shaver

This shaver does okay but not as good as the triple header rotating type. In all fairness though my beard grows about three different ways. Shaver is well made and convenient to use and charge.

  • An Excellent Razor

I have had several electric razors. While I like the Remington F5, I prefer the Braun because the shaving head seems to fit my face better. This is a very good razor, and I use it periodically. It is well made, and is easy to use.

  • Good shaver but not right for me.

Seems to be of very good quality espically for its price. However in my case it did not perform well. Took much to long to complete my every other day shave and had a difficult time removing those wild white hairs. I went back to using my old triple head rotary shaver for the time being. Was not a expensive price to pay for the experience try.

  • Great while new, but relatively costly to maintain.

The Remington F5-5800 worked very well and was a great electric razor when new, but after a few months, the cutters became too dull to provide a satisfactory shave. So now, new foil and cutter must be purchased, which can amount to as much as 2/3's the original cost of the razor. It was great while sharp, but I won't use it again unless purchase the replacement parts.

  • Great little shaver !!!

I've been using a Braun for the last 4 years and this beats it hands down. Comfortable to hold while shaving and holds a charge for 2 weeks. My Braun would pull hair on my mustache and would not cut any longer hairs that I may have missed the day before. The trimmer takes a little getting used to but cuts fine. I love this razor !!!

  • A Great Shaver and a Great Value

Had I known how improved both battery technology and shave technology has become, I would have gladly retired my Braun 5005 (corded only) much sooner. The F5 provides a faster, comfortable shave, including the problem spots I had to really scrub at with my old shaver. The faster, easier shave means less irritation. The water clean-up is also great, and no brushing to clean it means the cutters should last far longer. The battery life has been impressive as well. The last time I tried a cordless shaver, it seemed I always had to have it on charge - not so the F5. The cord/cordless functionality is nice to fall back on if needed (though it hasn't been necessary since the battery life display means I know in advance when it needs to charge), and it can charge enough for a shave very quickly in a pinch. While I'm sure the higher end shavers probably provide an even more impressive shave, I can't imagine the difference being worth the significant jump in price they command. As a frugal guy and a creature of habit, I'm definitely happily with the F5 enough to not miss my old shaver and enough to not feel I'm missing out on much with the higher end shaver options..
