I didn't buy this for the car, rather the black inner trim around the Velux windows in our upstairs rooms. I think it is textured Vinyl or some other form of plastic. They had become faded from 15 years of sunlight and stained from moisture. The concentrated detergent did a good job of removing the accumulated grime, then I applied a layer of the dye. It was easy to apply with the aplicator. Once dry (about 15 minutes) it looked 100% better but still a bit patchy in places so I gave it a second coat. It now looks brand new. I thought the product was a bit expensive but it works, so worth the money.

I was after a permanent black solution and came across this stuff, what a mistake that was as it goes on well but the next day you could see brush marks all over . I ended up getting a friend to spray paint them as they were ruined. So avoid this stuff if you care for your car .

I've given the plastic trim at the bottom of the windscreen a couple of coats of this. The plastic was very faded and it has made a lot of difference but could probably do with another coat or 2 to see if it will get any darker. It paints on black but dries lighter, speaking of it drying it dries quickly if you get it on the bodywork but with my car being waxed it wiped off no problem. If you have scratches on the plastic they will still show after painting this on. The applicator is good and cleans off with soapy water after use, so you'll be able to use it again. If you're plastics are very faded and you don't fancy spraying them I would recommend giving this a go.

I've used a few wax based products in the past that need to be reapplied weekly. Started looking for a more permanent solution and came across this. Needs 2-3 coats and takes a bit of time but it works! Bumpers look brand new. Can't comment if it will last the 2 years stated but even if I had to reapply every 6-12 months it would still be worth it.

Although there are other products that claim to restore faded and bleached-out exterior automotive trim, almost all are creams - a glorified version of "Armor All." But not this one. Forever Black is a dye that goes on with a foam applicator and is buffed off later (somewhat like shoe polish.) And it works. I have been collecting and restoring vintage cars for 30 years, and it's still really the ONLY thing that truly works. Prep work on the plastic is important, but once clean the dye goes on easily and penetrates well. NOTE: It works best on plastics which have a little texture to them. It will work fine on shiny, smooth plastic as well, but there can be a tendency to see brush strokes if you are not extremely careful. Buff more aggressively on the shiny surfaces to help minimize this effect. Overall, it's a great product. Not cheap, but what option do you have? Nothing else does the job even half as well.
