Well built solid quality magnifying glass! Doesn’t come with batteries, requires 3x AAA. The white LED illumination is good. The mini 90X loupe is also a nice addition and handy. If you are looking for one on eBay this is the one you want!

The magnifier is very good value, and just what I need, but the magnification of the higher power lens is approximately 4 times. I previously bought a different make which claimed to be 30 times magnification, but was more like 3 times, so had a good idea what to expect. I checked the magnification by printing out the word TEST at 12 Points, repeating it at 48 points just over one inch away. I was able to view the smaller through the higher power lens, and see the larger print unmagnified at the same time. They looked about the same size. That is how I conclude the magnification is about 4. A magnification of 45 needs a microscope. Sorry prove me wrong if you can. I also have an old German magnifier with a composite lens it is labelled 10x The image is over twice as big as this one.

Good quality twin lens (glass) magnifier, White LED source, needs three x AAA to power (not supplied) Very effective light. The small high powered lens has a fairly short focal length so you need to get close to the object and that's where the LEDs come in useful. The only thing I don't like, is that thje LED light is switched. there is a big thumb operated button on the handle, and it locks on so it is possible to put the magnifier down with the LEDs still on. I can't see any need for the switch action to be locking, a press to turn on and release for off would be better.

Well designed for hand use even in tight corners; light spread is good and optics clear. Importantly this unit has strong plastic mouldings which will last and take a bit of a knock without cracking up. The battery compartment lid is robust and secures well. The rather small 40x lens was something that I thought would be of no use but in one or two instances I have used it and have been surprised by the clarity! ( You do need a steady hand though) I bought this for use when I am machining metal in my workshop and it is ideal; being able to switch the light on and off with the button (rather than having to hold the button down to keep the light on) has been a great positive. Brilliant value for money.
