Center Point Patriot 415 crossbow review
I received the crossbow very well packaged and shipping was quick. I tuned the crossbow up, timed it and levelled the cams. I up graded the scope as I do a lot of target shooting.
I could not obtain near Center Point's advertised speed taking into consideration that a heavier arrow-point combination was used. What I eventually found out was Center Point is using a cable set measuring 17 1/4" which is an inch too long. Going to 16 1/4" I greatly increased the speed of this crossbow. From an average of 333 feet per second that the crossbow was received at, the crossbow now shoots in the 390's using the same 425 grain arrow-point combination.
Eliminating the cable slide which is known for chewing up the cables, I served this area with BCY .030 serving as well as adding an additional layer of the same serving over the original arrow-latch area of the bowstring. This greatly increases the life of the cables and bowstring.
.
The limbs and riser assembly is very strongly built. Due to having a 200 pound draw weight, I modified the butt stock so as I am able to use a plug in crank cocking device which is more accurate and easier to draw the crossbow than a rope.
Having the crossbow mounted in a high quality rifle jig, I do not have to remove the crossbow to cock it then realign it in the jig, therefore the crank device works better for me.
Properly tuned, using a good rest and no wind and good quality arrows, this crossbow is very accurate.
This crossbow has an aluminum rail where the arrow lies which greatly improves accuracy as compared to one that uses composite which can come warped or easily warp.
I have taken many shots with this crossbow, target shooting since making my purchase and am very happy with it.
