This order was my 4th Samsung EVO 870. Although this disk is sold as an internal drive, you can buy a disk caddy / enclosure and use it as an external drive which would be a much cheaper option than buying a dedicated external drive. I have a Mac and use the disk for a TimeMachine backup. All you need is to use the Disk Utility app and format Samsung to Mac OS Extended before starting to use it. I use a Ugreen caddy that has a movable top and I can swap disks easy without a need for any tools
