Doans is the real deal.
Doans works, I recommend this over any ferro rod. Soome say the wind can blow away shavings. Simple fix, use your thumb and make a small hole in ground for shavings, use a wind shield, or shave some magnesium on a piece of tape sticky side of course. I foolishly bought chinese magnesium and striker rods. Neither one functioned and a laboratory test found the magnesium predominantly aluminum with a small percentile of magnesium and several WASTE metals.
