  • All-American 41-1/2-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner

This is not a beginner device. I find this cooker to be well made and easy to use. It is much heavier construction than my first pressure canner and I find the metal seal to work well and believe it will age much better than the rubber seals. I have only used it once so far so my experience is limited. I processed a batch of 24 wide mouth pints in it. I heat it with an outdoor propane burner rated at 50,000 btu. I put about 4" of water in it which I believe to be 2-3 gallons. On full fire it took about 10 minutes to achieve boiling and start to pressurize the cooker. At 20 minutes I was at my 10 psi target and started backing off the heat. I found the temp/pressure very easy to regulate on this big pot as the thermal mass is large. I could easily keep the reading within 10.5-11 psi. After another 10-15 minutes the heat was set extremely low and the pressure stabilized. I found I could then leave it for 15 minutes at a time with very little change in the cycling of the weight/pressure relief. I am pretty sure it would have been fine for the rest of the cook which was for 55 minutes. I turned off the heat and waited about another hour before returning to the cooker. I found it with the gauge reading 0 so I pulled the weight and opened the lid. I was canning sweet corn. The upper jars were actively boiling internally. I have not experienced this when canning with a smaller canner. I believe it is due to the canner being so large and having so much external surface area that is cools off substantially faster than the jars within. Now the lower level of jars bathed in water cooled at a closer rate to the canner and were not boiling. I am sure this is not a desirable effect. I am going to need to do some more research. Either the lower jars are going to need to be fully submerged so the upper jars are in the water or I may have to add some heat during cool off to slow the cooker cooling. This ranks high for me in quality and ease of use but it may require more expertise than normal to use properly when filled with jars. Also note it is very heavy. When filled with jars and water it is a two man job to move it. I leave it in place while filling and emptying. I would not even consider placing this on a kitchen stove. My burner is heavy duty and can handle the weight. I suspect the loaded weight of this thing is between 50-100 lbs.

  • Solid piece of equipment for canning but expected more substantial bottom grate/separator

looks like what I ordered and it's solid large pressure canner that can do about 40 lbs of meat in one batch. the one irritation is that I didn't expect the type of grates in it. I expected to get a solid aluminum separator. the regular chrome grates don't match up with the heavy duty quality of the rest of the unit. that part is pretty disappointing. I suppose it will be more to pay for that accessory. Everything is downgraded in quality nowadays even the premium stuff. Just annoying as hell especially when you pay almost 800 for a pressure canner you'd think the separators would be as rock solid as the rest of the unit

  • Heavyweight cooker !!!

I have a smaller size All American Canner. They are absolutely the greatest cookers in the world. First, they are made with the very best materials. Second, they a have seamless fit at the relm. Third, they get hot faster and cool down faster. Lastly, they self regulate to the exact pressure that is wanted, 5#, 10#, or 15#'s. Like I said . . . the greatest cookers in the world !!!

  • 6 stars

I am using this as a sterilizer and have used many different pressure cookers over the years and they have all had their quirks. Not the All-American 941. This thing is wunderbar! The gauge allows you to keep the pressure and heat exactly without blowing all your steam out the jiggler. The mass of this PC means that changes temperature slowly and is easy to catch before there is a big change. The second time I use this, I measured water before and after and found that in one and a half hours of use it only lost one cup of water. If you can afford an All-American you will never use another pressure cooker again. The downside to the 941 is weight(33lbs empty)means you have to load and unload it on the heat source unless you have no problem lifting heavy weights up to stove height. The other downside is most stoves probably won't drive this. I use a turkey fryer.

  • The skies opened up...music came down from heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason I bought the 41 quart is because they don't make a bigger one. Superior quality! easy to use (just read the instructions) canned 18 quarts of Chicken and dumplings...all 18 sealed. Already thinking about buying another one...(shhhh dont' tell the wife) Buy it you'll love it!!

  • Works great

Great pressure cooker. The booklet says it'll hold 19 quart jars, but I can squeeze 20 in pretty easily. Probably 21 if I got creative. No gaskets needed as promised. Feels sturdy.

  • The only pressure canner/cooker to buy.

It is large and more difficult to clean and use due to its size. Nevertheless, it saves money on energy because you can get twice as many quart jars (1 litre) in as other pressure.canners. It gets 5 stars from me. You will never need another pressure canner/pressure cooker in your life and your children will be handing to on to their children.

  • Worth the money

Cuts canning time considerably. It is hard to find this kind of quality in a product anymore. I have 3 sizes, it's nice to start another batch while your first one is depressurizing. I can't say enough about any all American canner. If you are serious about canning this is a wise investment.

  • Well build with quality, robust hardware.

For a novice user, two cooks have gone flawlessly. This cooker is a beast! It is easy to use and well built. I expect that it will be in operation for a very long time.

  • This is a big girl canner. You will not be disappointed!

Just used it for the second time. Made 19 quarts of beef vegetable soup and boy was this the best way to don that. No more multiple canners going at the same time - this canner does it all at one time. Very heavy duty and I will pass this on to my daughter and she to hers one day.
