SynopsisFor most of us, it was just another horrible headline. But for Deborah Spungen, the mother of Nancy, who was stabbed to death at the Chelsea Hotel, it was both a relief and a tragedy. Here is the incredible story of an infant who never stopped screaming, a toddler who attacked people, a teenager addicted to drugs, violence, and easy sex, a daughter completely out of control--who almost destroyed her parents' marriage and the happiness of the rest of her family. "Honest and moving...Her painful tale is engrossing." WASHINGTON POST BOOK WORLD, For most of us, it was just another horrible headline. This is a rollercoaster of a book about the life of Nancy Spungen girlfriend of Sid Vicious the bass player for the Sex Pistols, and how her family had to to deal with her manipulation, and troubled youth, she became known by hooking up with Sid Vicious, she was a dancer in a club, a groupie and a junkie, this books goes into it all well written and has black and white photos, I highly recommend this silver cover edition, I have the black and red one also but in that version they just photocopied the pictures so they are dark.
I am a fan of Sid and Nancy as well as the Pistols so this is for my collection.
This is the second time I have read this book. I read it first as a 20 year old. I’m now 59, had kids of my own, lived life. This story is very compelling. It’s sad, tragic, and thought provoking. The most poignant thing about it is that you read almost the whole book thinking that the title came from something Nancy would say, but it doesn’t. I won’t spoil it, but it really was an emotional discovery. And I don’t want to live this life.
