Cara Dillon's "Hill of Thieves" stands as an exemplar of contemporary folk with Celtic and ethereal undertones, released by Charcoal in 2008. The album showcases a unique blend of rock, pop, and world music, with each track weaving rich storytelling and melodious craftsmanship. Fans of the genre will appreciate the authentic studio recording that captures the essence of Dillon's acoustic guitar and the raw energy of her live performances. "Hill of Thieves" is an essential addition to the collections of those who savour the distinct voice of contemporary singer/songwriters in the UK and Ireland.
I actually heard the title track of this album on Ballina and Killaloe radio (high five to their other listener) and it just instantly stood out. The musicianship, production quality and Cara's voice. No wonder it was so well received at the time. Why did I only find out about this music now? Oh well, at least I can enjoy catching up.
