Works like a charm
The foam inserts were pretty intuitive to piece together and full assembly was easy. I can't quite remember if there were directions. The mat works great; tested on the PS2 and PC. Taking away the account A/V lag of DDR and HDTV's, the response is as it should be for it, as well as on PC rhythm games. A little lumpy
This mat has a great foam padding, it’s user friendly and I don’t slip while using it wearing socks. My main issue with the mat is how lumpy the outer layer (buttons) of plastic is. This can cause me to lose my footing on the mat and mess up combos. It also seems to not pick up steps sometimes, but I feel as if I still breaking it in. This is much better than just the flat pads in my opinion. There is an extremely strong smell of plastic upon opening this product.

Close approximation of a Red Octane mat
I bought one of these. I liked it so I bought another one. This DDR mat has a 1" thick foam pad so it's much more comfortable than the stock mats. (I put them on. yoga mats for even more padding.) It's easier to stay aligned with the mat while dancing because there's a slight drop-off at the edges of the four main pads that you can feel with your feet. It comes in two bags, one containing the shell, which is folded up, and one containing pieces of foam that interlock like puzzle pieces. Be sure to assemble them correctly so that they form a perfect square. Flip pieces upside down if necessary. The surface takes a while to flatten out after you put it together, but it does eventually. I have a Red Octane mat which seems to be a bit better, but they're quite similar. The A button isn't very responsive, but it works and isn't very important. I can't speak for durability. The instructions don't mention Wii compatibility, but it works fine on my Wii.

Raised Panel Inserts = Huge Design Flaw
Very sensitive and responsive, but the foam inserts that sits right under the arrows moved around and permanently screwed up the pad. Tried using a hot air gun to get the foam panels back into place but once they got moved they didn't go back into place proper. I would expect this sort of thing to happen about a months worth of using, not like 5 play sessions. I would return it but with the current COVID situation it's not really worth the time. I'm almost wondering if mine was defective because the pictures make it seem like the foam panels (Not the 6-piece puzzle foam insert) are locked into place compared to how mine is acting.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A step up the food chain
While these pads are clearly better than the standard DDR pad, they would likely not keep up with an expert. For a beginner like me, I feel like 95% of the time the misses are me now instead of the pad. The entry pads were more like 80% so I feel like these are a major improvement. More comfortable, less moving around and over all better quality. Sure, there is room for improvement, but you have to pay 4 or 5 times as much to get it and that was what I was willing to spend. Very high quality DDR foam mats
These are pretty good DDR mats that I have owned. These mat will hold up to about level 7. Anything beyond that I prefer metal dance pads. Period. But these mats came easy to setup and plug and play for Windows 10 64-bit. Since it has multiple plugs at the end. It can be used for consoles as well. Only problem I have with these mats and most mats is that it still moves around during level 5-7 on a carpet floor. Also I wish the cord was longer. Alright pad, flawed internal foam pad design, not sure how long it will last
At first, everything was 10/10. Then I realized that the foam pads inside the mat all slipped around after only 1 week of use. They are glued inside a thin layer, and only accessible by breaking the warranty seal over one of the screw holes. I had to remove all the feet foam pads because they were all slipping out of place. Thankfully the pad worked after the surgery, but this shouldn't have been required. When they say it comes with a high-density foam, they mean it! It's really easy to put together, it doesn't slide all over the floor, you don't slide off the mat, and you can play on carpet without any issues.
