Whether you like or loathe this film probably depends on your opinions of the original 1960s series of films with Peter Sellers in the title role, or your opinions of Steve Martin. He's never been afraid to shy away from re-boots, such as "Sgt. Bilko" or remaking the Spencer Tracy film "Father of the Bride". The problem of course is that to whole generations of movie-goers, Phil Silvers will always be the definative "Bilko", in the same way that Peter Sellers will always be the definative "Inspector Clouseau". Martin obviously tries to make the role his own, but he has some pretty big shoes to fill. On the plus side, Emily Mortimer as Clouseau's love interest Nicole is cute. Very cute. Jean Reno returns as Ponton, and is as funny as hell as straight man to Martin. John Cleese ably takes over Kevin Kline's role as Clouseau's boss Dreyfus. Sophisticated it isn't, but it is good family entertainment and pretty funny in places. One could argue forever about who makes the best James Bond or Doctor Who, and one could put forward the same case about Inspector Clouseau. Steve Martin just puts his own spin on the character. For those who aren't familiar with the material that has come before it is a comedy that stands out on its own. If you have seen Peter Sellers in the role, then comparisons between the two are inevitable. Even so, it's hard to dislike this film completely. It's not Steve Martin's best, but it is a pleasant enough way to pass 90 minutes of your life. 6/10Read full review
Steve martin is back as the french Inspector Clouseau's in pink panther 2 family comedy which will have you laughing even more than you did on the 1st film. A cat burglar calld Tornado has stolen many cultural treasures including a pink panther diamond. Inspector Clouseau's is on the trail to find the diamond. Along the way the usual madcap shenanigans will have you laughing. 2009 I loved the first pink panther with beyonce in, steve martin is a very funny character so If you loved the first once your in for a treat. This second one is full of comedy, even better than the first one. steve as usual gets into hilarious situations, dont want to reveal to you as it will spoil it. I owuld definetly recommend. Its one of the best films he's ever done and i doubt very much they could of found a better actor to play the part aswell as he did. cast *STEVE MARTIN *JOHN CHEESE *ALFRED MOLINA *ANDY GARCIA *JEREMY IRONS LILY TOMLIN *JEAN RENO *EMILY MORTIMER *AISHWARYA RAIRead full review
