Introducing Suede mk 2
Suede's initial rise as "the best new band in Britain" seemed to cement them as the most likely to succeed, but they were surpassed by arty and populist Blur and plodding and bloated Oasis. Bernard Butler's replacement then 17 year old wunderkind Richard Oakes is performing Bernard's songs on his first tour with suede, but it's Brett Anderson who really shines with the new punky, clipped and economical style that Suede would employ on Coming up already taking shape here with energetic performances of "Animal Nitrate", "Metal Mickey" and "So Young" alongside then new classics like "The Wild Ones", "Asphalt World" and "Heroine" off their criminally undervalued Dog Man Star album. What striking is just how much fun Suede are, the performances are taken from four different venues across the UK and France but you would never notice as they are so consistent. Much better than Love and Poison and worth every penny ta.
