Van Der Graaf Generator - A Plague Of Lighthouse Keeper (DVD, 2009)

About this product

Product Information

This progressive rock band from the 1960s and '70s was more than the springboard for Peter Hammill's solo career, it was a challenging and rewarding prog-rock group that has continued to influence new generations of artists ever since. Named after the electrostatic accelerator invented by American physicist Robert Jamison Van de Graaf, the intelligent lyrics displayed the lead singer's keen interest in science, and the music itself was complex, intensely creative, and considered by some to be slightly off-putting. Added to the regular 'progressive' trappings of grandiose style and numerous shifts in mood and tone, was the palpable influence of artists like Leonard Cohen and David Ackles. Collected here are the insights of a team of independent rock journalists and music critics, as well as rare archive footage. Included in this release is also a bonus CD of an historical performance the band held in 1975 at the majestic Charleroi Palais des Expos.
