The ten-part drama series A KIND OF LOVING is set in Yorkshire and London during the 1950s and 1960s. The action gets under way in 1957, when Vic Brown (Clive Wood), the headstrong son of a West Riding minister (John Keegan), begins what he regards to be a casual affair with Ingrid Rothwell (Joanne Whalley û WILLOW, SCANDAL). Somewhat against his will, Vic is obliged to declare his intentions to Ingrid's family, and ends up marrying the girl. But neither the courtship nor the marriage is what one could call completely blissful, and therein lies the story's dramatic core.

Great Entertainment
It was back in the early 1960's that June Richie and Alan Bates made the Cinema version of this famous love story set in the Industrial North of England. A tale of Love and Romance amid working class people in everyday working life. This New Television Series cleverly expands on the original cinema version, and is able to be still true to the book, as the lives of the characters are given more screen exposure. It is a very entertaining series and becomes riveting from the first episode. The story plays out in exactly the same time frame as the original did, and the same sexual values and difficulties that were part of everyday romance in life in those times is cleverly recreated. Brilliant dvd box set of iconic period drama series
Brilliant to be able to watch this fantastic series in full again, for the first time since a Granada tv repeat showing about 25 years ago! The distinctive title music brought back immediate memories and it felt like only yesterday that I had watched it originally. Very authentic and evocative period drama spanning the late 1950’s to early 1970’s which resonated with my own youth. Picture reproduction is also high quality.
