Excellent childrens movie. Good laughs. Good story line. Good fun. Exciting. We loved it. Good family movie.
The title of this film intersted me and my children we missed it at the cinema so decided to bid for it. It a film about an inventor who no-one understands him but his Mum. All his life he invents 'useless' things until one day he invents a machine to turn water vapour into food. His home island is in crisis following the demise of the sardine industry and they are looking for ideas to relaunch the place. The town Mayor has spent all the island's money on a secret plan and just before its unveiling Flyn, the scientist, discovers he needs more power for the machine to work so he hooks it up to the main island power supply. Chaos ensue and the machine get launched into the sky. Flyn is next seen at the pier's end feeling sorry for himself and a national news reporter also goes to the pier thinking her career is over, they end up having a conversation during which Flyn notices 'things' falling from the sky - slices of gherkin, cheese, bun etc! Flyn realises his machine is working and runs aropund the town as cheese burgers fall from the sky! The island folk are overwhelmed as they had been existing on sardines as they were the only plentiful food available and embrace Flyn and his invention as the saviour of the island. Everyone has a food wish for Flyn to send up to his machine but in time the machine becomes over laoded and things start getting out of control. With the help of the new reporter, who is a closet geek too, and her camera man they launch themselves into the sky with a code to shut down the machine.Reminicent of the Star Wars scene's of them flying around the Death star Flyn and his companions attempt to stop the machine but it defends itself using food items. The ultimate solution occurs when one of Flyn's 'useless' inventions which is in his coat pocket springs to his mind and helps Flyn save the day! A wonderfully funny film, the plot was not too difficult to follow or predictable but very, very funny. It is one of those rare children's films that I would happily watch again as I am sure I missed some of the action *****Read full review
A good funny family cartoon about a wacky boy inventor who makes a machine that can turn water into any food. He accidently launches it high into the clouds where the food rains down like weather. The people from the small town he is from continually put in requests for more and more food which eventually overloads the machine causing food weather disasters. Needless to say he saves the day. Lots of funny bits like the monkey pet and odd town people. I enjoyed the film and I think kids would find it very funny and entertaining - I would definetly recommend this one.
