It was easy to install. A word of warning to other socket 775 users, you may need to update your bios microcode to have it recognise the processor fully. Search the internet to find out if your motherboard is compatible with the xeon processors first as not all of them are. I am more than happy with the speed increase from my Core 2 Q6600.

It it started to boot ok, but when Win7 was loading started to do it veeeery sloooowly, stuttering. But in safe mode it was running quickly, without problems. After some hours of tries and errors I've been able to locate the cause of problem - you just need to disable spreed spectrum. And voila! All is working as it should! :) Hope that my advice helps some one :)

Works perfectly in my EP43T-S3L Gigabyte MB. I have F4 BIOS, clear cmos first, load defaults, boot, do it again, and it was fine. Recognized it as a XEON 5450.---Best deal on a hard-modded XEON, no reason to buy a 9650, for 30-40 dollars more..none! Very happy indeed, and the delivery from China, was about a week!

I got this as a upgrade for my aging gaming PC. It is an LGA775 based PC, and I was running a Q9400 clocked at 3.6GHz. I got this clocked at 4.0GHz, and in some cases it's almost twice as fast. It also can beat a first gen i7 too, so I believe it has an excellent value. It can even almost match a newer i5, such as a i5 2400, for a much lower price. I like its lower power consumption, lower heat output, and lower price for 12MB cache, and ease for overclocking. If you get it for a dual socket LGA771, you should have a wonderfully priced home server.
Works flawlessly in my old Dell PowerEdge 2900 III.

I did not get to use the processor as I have a HP machine and the processor does not work with any HP machine (what I read in your listing after the fact). Thanks anyway.

This chip has breathed new life into my old, crawling desktop. The modification to allow for it was simple and the installation was flawless.

I put 2 of these in my Dell Gen3 1950 and it booted right up. Been using it for about 2 weeks now with no issues and a performance gain.

If you have a steady hand and an lga775 CPU to use as a stencil, I would definitely recommend modifying the $20 CPU instead of the $150+ motherboard. Take all ESD safety precautions when handling. Works well!
