  • Pentium 4 670 New Life for a Dell Dimension 8400

This Intel Pentium 4 670 3.8 GHz SL7Z3 processor enables an old Dell Dimension 8400 to load Windows 7 pro SP1 64-bit and run smoothly. Direct replacement for original 3.6 GHz 32-bit processor. No increase in temps or fan speeds. With the motherboard, it reliably and transparently supports modern 1TB hard drives (one new data cable required) in a Raid1 array. It supports full use of machine's maximum of 4GB ram. It boots more quickly than Windows XP 32-bit with the original processor. Internet surfing is somewhat slow but smooth and reliable. 64-bit Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents process smoothly and quickly. Very satisfying and inexpensive project.

  • excellent item and transaction

The used Intel Pentium 4 Socket LGA 775 P4 670 was clean, well packaged, delivered quickly, and functioned perfectly. i used it to upgrade a Dell Dimension 4700 to 64-bit capability and was able to successfully install a 64-bit OS onto the machine after. the thermal paste included was more like a runny cream than a paste and i wasn't sure i trusted it. i wasn't expecting thermal paste to be provided with a used CPU anyway so i did not consider this an issue and i used some compound i already had.

  • Nice upgrade for old box

Pretty nice CPU upgrade for old Dell 4700. Jumped from the P4 520 to 670 for cheap (used CPU). This CPU is 64 bit capable so if I ever do want to move from XP to Win7, it should work fine. For less than $200, this old box now has 4 GB ram, a 275 GB SSD, a low end PCI-e video card, a PCI-e USB 3.0 card, and this CPU.

  • Upgraded Dell Dimension 8400

I just got the cpu installed today and it is working fine. I had upgraded the bios to A09 prior to installing the cpu just to make sure there wouldn't be any issues. The cpu was really easy to install. I liked the fact that heat transfer paste was included with the cpu.

  • Best a Dell Dimension 8400 can get.

If you still have an old Dimension 8400 chugging along, you might as well upgrade to the single fastest CPU is can take. 3.8ghz on two logical cores doesn't even sound that bad. Sure the old architecture is outdated, but if you are still running an 8400, you know very well that it doesn't take the shiniest new parts, and the fastest, best performing chips to make a damn good, reliable computer. Show your clunky old Dell some love, and throw the Pentium 4 670 Processor in there. Just, make sure to use some better thermal paste than the stuff they include, or else your CPU Fan will throw a fit. With good thermal paste (I recommend Arctic Mx-4) the CPU Fan will be a little louder, but the folks that say that it increased the fan's noise by a lot probably just used the low quality thermal paste that was included with the CPU. Just throw that stuff out.

  • Great Processor and works favourably well with VGA Cards

Though it may be obsolete, still its reliably okay on pairing with NVIDIA GT 750ti during a test at the top. Recommended is GT 710 DDR3 Card.

  • Woke up my Dell 8400

Makes a nice retro-gamer with maxed out ram a really good video card Sound Blaster and this CPU.

  • Awesome retro processor

Recently bought an old processor for my retro build. It performs pretty well for an old processor. High temperature and consumes lot of power are normal for old technology and that can be anticipated easily
