S1G1 AMD Board Replact Athlon or Sempron with a Dual Core Turion
I've been helping people upgrade their older and slower AMD single core x64 based laptops, with the dual core Turion options. I will typically only source TL-60, TL-62, TL-64, and TL-66 processors. As these chipsets are approaching nearly 10 years of age, I've noticed the Turion processors still manage very well with today's operating systems and business applications. I run Windows 10 with a SSD and a TL-66 on my personal computer, and it does just as well as my much more expensive business laptop when it comes to running applications and multi-tasking. If you have the skills and know-how to replace a CPU on an S1G1 AMD board, and you've found a Turion processor for around $10, I'd say it is well worth the upgrade. It's a processor
I was able to bring back to life a 14 year old Dell Inspiron 1501that had a single core processor, 416 MB of ram and a 3200 rpm 80gb hard drive: upgraded BIOS, processor, RAM 4Gb, Hard Drive 7200rmp, and a charger all for under 100 cad, Installed Windows 7 and it works like a charm.
