A shocking and most compelling portrayal, taken down to a personal level of one of the most shameful episodes in Russian history. Until the 1980's the germans were blamed for this genocide; the Allies probably knew the truth and the Russian adamantly denied it. One must question the false belief why Britain went to war - on the pretext that the Germans had invaded Poland, whilst we idly sat by and watched the Soviets carve up the other half. Maybe not an easy film with translation, to at first understand who is who and it sometimes seems to be slow in action, but certainly worth sticking with. I suggest every Russian should see it!!!! Certainly disturbing and thought provoking - a must see.
Very well made film of a tragic time in history. Depicting the pure evil in this world.

great true story.keeps you hoping to the end that it wont turn out the way it does.very horrific and tells us that the russians were in some casses as bad as the germans.100% worth the watch although in english subtitles its still verygood
This film covers, as my title says, a particularly horrid part of Soviet history and one which they have tried to hide at least once and probably will again, under the current (2014) leadership. Essentially, the film starts at the Soviet-German invasion of Poland and runs through the German and then Soviet occupation with the effect that the Katyn massacre had on the Poles, before finishing with what precisely happened, according to notes kept by one of the murdered Polish officers. Deliberately harrowing although quite difficult to understand (despite subtitles!) as characters are introduced during the film.
One of the most powerful films that I have seen in a long time. It is the true story of how Stalin murdered 15,000 Polish Army officers in 1940 as a prelude to colonising that country and then used the Soviet propadanda machine to spread the lie that the crime had been committed by the Germans. For a full 50 years much of the world swallowed this lie and the truth was only finally admitted with the fall of Communism in 1989. The film is a must for anyone who is interested in the true history of the twentieth century as it shows that the Soviets' claim to have "liberated" Eastern Europe was no more than a cynical sham and that their real aim was to enslave previously free countries. It is very well acted and the fact that it is in Polish with English subtitles in no way spoiled my enjoyment of this dramatic work.Read full review
very good film, I am polish and that movie shows the true what happened 70 years ago... and now situation repeat again, so many people died in crash plane... but president Kaczynski was always fighting to find out that true and tell the world... because of that tragedy and this film a lot of people in the world know now. Just regret that it had to died so many people... Very good film, recommend for everyone to see.
This film is very gritty. It tells the true story of what happened to Polish people during the second world war. It is very interesting
Excellent film well worth the money ....................................................................
I'd say this is between good and very good, but not great, a real insight into the horrors of war on a personal level.
