Meanwhile, they have to deal with the typical problems of an American family, such as annoying relatives, worries about jobs and money, and the struggle to find time for themselves. ROSEANNE was among the first shows on television to deal in a truthful and deglamorised way with everyday issues that average viewers could relate to--and it managed to remain funny and touching while doing so. The best US sitcom ever!
Not seen it? Where were you? This one broke all the moulds and hasn't aged a bit - as relevant now as it was 25 years ago. No pretty people - no money - just real life for the majority of American families combining razor sharp wit and biting commentary on everyday issues with very touching treatment of sensitive and sometimes uncomfortable subjects. It peels off all the veneer that other US TV is desperate to hide behind and Roseanne herself should have pursued a career in politics.
