This is a really good lightweight ramp, I had another branded one already and although sturdy, it was very heavy and hard work to construct when holding onto a dog hence I bought this one. My parents already had a similar for their elderly dog so I knew to purchase this one due to it being lightweight but being able to support a GSD of 35-40kg. I have only rated 4 stars as you do need to cover it with carpet ( which I knew to do) Yes it’s got a non slip surface on it but it’s still not 100% suitable for a dog that needs it. As such I used adhesive spray and stuck carpet to it and now works a treat. So as long as you are happy to do that it’s a great ramp that you can put up and down easily on your own with one hand and whilst holding a dog.

This is a good value product which is worth a try if youre not sure that your dog will take to a ramp. Like others I covered the surface with some carpet which my dog seems to prefer. Its fairly light and easy to handle. It does flex a bit when walked on (I have a 35k labrador) but thats inevitable with something made of plastic and it doesnt seem to bother him. I havent yet managed to try getting him in to the car with it and am taking it slowly by gradually raising the height so as to get him used to it. I find placing a bit of cheese at intervals along it helps him to overcome his fear.

The ramp is lightweight and solid enough but the surface for the dog to walk on is appalling. It is like a rough grade sandpaper. When the ramp was open and on the floor for the dog to get used to it there was no problem. The minute it was attached to the car the dog could get no grip due to the angle, slipped and refused to use it. It needs a non slip, soft, rubber type surface to give the dog confidence and grip. I will buy the covering I need and continue to use the ramp as it is sturdy enough for our 40kg dog. Disappointed that a little bit of thought hasn’t gone into this surface.

Our old Labrador was beginning to struggle to hop up in to our 4x4, weighing about 35kg she is a bit heavy to lift' in and out' so we decided a ramp would be the solution. We chose this one as it looked very sturdy, whilst still being lightweight and a sensible length whilst folded. What also drew us to this one, was the grippy surface and the raised edges ( something we feel is a very important feature, as it stops paws from sliding off the edge ), coming with sensible tips on how to get your dog accustomed to it, I would recommend this ramp for all dogs up to the max weight limit.

It took a little time to get the dog used to using the ramp. What helped was a towel over the ramp and a few little treats on it.!!
