A good lightweight ramp, but needs better grip.

This is a really good lightweight ramp, I had another branded one already and although sturdy, it was very heavy and hard work to construct when holding onto a dog hence I bought this one. My parents already had a similar for their elderly dog so I knew to purchase this one due to it being lightweight but being able to support a GSD of 35-40kg. I have only rated 4 stars as you do need to cover it with carpet ( which I knew to do) Yes it’s got a non slip surface on it but it’s still not 100% suitable for a dog that needs it. As such I used adhesive spray and stuck carpet to it and now works a treat. So as long as you are happy to do that it’s a great ramp that you can put up and down easily on your own with one hand and whilst holding a dog.

Good value and worth a try

This is a good value product which is worth a try if youre not sure that your dog will take to a ramp. Like others I covered the surface with some carpet which my dog seems to prefer. Its fairly light and easy to handle. It does flex a bit when walked on (I have a 35k labrador) but thats inevitable with something made of plastic and it doesnt seem to bother him. I havent yet managed to try getting him in to the car with it and am taking it slowly by gradually raising the height so as to get him used to it. I find placing a bit of cheese at intervals along it helps him to overcome his fear.

  • Wrong ramp surface

The ramp is lightweight and solid enough but the surface for the dog to walk on is appalling. It is like a rough grade sandpaper. When the ramp was open and on the floor for the dog to get used to it there was no problem. The minute it was attached to the car the dog could get no grip due to the angle, slipped and refused to use it. It needs a non slip, soft, rubber type surface to give the dog confidence and grip. I will buy the covering I need and continue to use the ramp as it is sturdy enough for our 40kg dog. Disappointed that a little bit of thought hasn’t gone into this surface.

  • Astrong ramp and good value.

This dog ramp is fairly light, but strong. It has lip at each end for resting on the car boot rim and on the ground.. It has one hinge and is coated with a dog grip claws surface. I lay it in the boot, so that the top end unfolds, ready to lie at the top, while standing on my dogs lead. The dog learned to walk up straight away, aided by some cheese incentive, laid on the ramp and some praise. I am very happy with this product. My dog is the weight and size of a Border Collie.

  • Folding dog ramp

Our old Labrador was beginning to struggle to hop up in to our 4x4, weighing about 35kg she is a bit heavy to lift' in and out' so we decided a ramp would be the solution. We chose this one as it looked very sturdy, whilst still being lightweight and a sensible length whilst folded. What also drew us to this one, was the grippy surface and the raised edges ( something we feel is a very important feature, as it stops paws from sliding off the edge ), coming with sensible tips on how to get your dog accustomed to it, I would recommend this ramp for all dogs up to the max weight limit.

  • Light and easy to use.

It took a little time to get the dog used to using the ramp. What helped was a towel over the ramp and a few little treats on it.!!

  • A great dog ramp

We bought the ramp for our 2 springers aged 8 & 10 after buying an estate car, to help them get in and out to prevent any extra strain in their joints. We laid it in the garden for a day but only one of them got on it the other didn't like the rough texture. After laying a towel over it he then went on it. We went on holiday 2 days after getting it and although a bit hit and miss to start with, within a couple of days they were both using it to get in and out of the car with very little persuasion ( and no towel) I was worried it would be too steep but it wasn't a problem for the boot of a VW Passat estate. The ramp itself is easy to use and sturdy enough for 32kg of springer! It's folds in half and has a clip to keep it closed. We stored it right in the back of the boot whilst travelling to the holiday and this didn't affect the boys in the boot at all. On days out we just put it in the back seat of the car. All in all money well spent and made our holiday easier for us and the boys !

  • Good ramp but needs a better surface

Product delivered before expected date and as described. Bought for elderly Labrador who can no longer jump in/out of the car. The surface of the ramp is a kind of course sand paper. It is too slippery for dog claws and I have done as other reviewers and stuck carpet tiles onto the surface. Dog is happy to walk on it flat and up steps, yet to try into the car but am pleased with the ramp, given the price. I think if the manufacturers were to upgrade the surface it would be a great product, at the moment it's good but needs altering to make it fit for purpose.

  • Excellent Product

Excellent. I was a bit apprehensive when ordering, wasn't sure if it would be strong enough for my 5 month old 30>kg Great Dane. To date, I have had no problems. It is very practical - very robust, yet light enough to carry and folds easily. Makes getting her in the back of our estate car very easy, thus preventing damage to her legs.

  • not perfect

It's a good dog ramp but the sandperlike grippy blue surface is still slippy when my dog climbs it. I'm thinking of glueing some treads to it to improve things.
