About this product

Product Information

During the week Robert J. Ray was a teacher.  On weekends he learned the fiction writer's craft and produced his first novel.  He ended up selling six books in six years.  The same success as a writer can happen to you. His step-by-step program, the same one he uses himself and teaches in his popular fiction-writing class, organizes your writing around the weekends.  Each weekend you work through the basics of character, scene, and plot, the construction of the novel in scenes and chapters, and the actual writing and editing of your book.

  • Excellent instruction

Ray's book is one of the very few how-to books that gets on with the job of teaching a writer how to construct a novel. Though the individual's inner story has to be sought out (because as Hemingway said, "All writing is autobiographical) - and for that, one should secure Steven King's, On Writing. King slays a lot of sacred cows there, so be warned! Ray's book is a joy to have. He takes you step by step to get your book done to the editorial stage. The price of the book is well worth the investment. Considering most half decent courses will set you back quite a few hundred dollars. But, again, King's book is essential to understand the place of both the technical and the inspirational. I'm very pleased I bought this, because at my time (at 70) in life, I only want that, which is instructional, sequential, authentic and practical. It reads well. It's cogent and does it in a minimum of words. Highly recommended.
