  • Brother PQ 1500 S

The machine is solid, smooth, very easy to operate, and a great value. It comes with a great assortment of accessory feet and although it only does one thing (a straight stitch), it performs without flaw or criticism. The variation in stitch length is fantastic and I don't know of any other new machine you will find with a 7 mm maximum length within that price range or even close to it. I would only say that the threader and the lighting are the only areas on the machine that could be improved upon. The machine is not difficult to thread by hand, though, and there are many add-on LED lights that you can add to the machine to remedy the lighting. If you are thinking of paying $200 more for the Juki straight stitcher because it has speed control, I can assure you won't be disappointed with the precision and control this machine offers even though there is no speed slider. It is no problem to stitch one stitch at a time by using the foot pedal. Otherwise, it is super fast, quiet, and smooth. If you are looking for a computerized machine that runs off a motherboard and stitches in every direction, this is not your machine. If, however, you know how to sew and are ready to take your sewing to the next level, I highly recommend.

  • Brother PQ1500SL

Ken's was super helpful and very fast with shipping, I have used this machine for a twin size quilt free motion quilting, Love the selection of presser feet and I look forward to continued use. It does straight stitching only- no zig zag or button hole, etc, which is all I need for piecing quilt tops and quilting the layers and edging. I am able to fit the quilt rollers in the throat and still maneuver the quilt under the needle. I think this is a great buy for hobby quilters who don't have $20,000 for one of the big computerized systems. I can decide how much space I need to use. The extra table that snaps on makes moving the quilt under the needle easier, too.

  • Brother PQ-1500SL

This machine is a simple straight stitch machine. It does that very well. I have used it to stitch a jelly roll quilt top and add binding to two quilts. It comes with a number of feet including a walking foot. This is the first time I have used a walking foot and it worked great for me. There is a caution on the walking foot to only use it at 70% maximum sewing speed. The PQ-1500SL will sew at 1500 stitches per min so the 70% limitation isn't a problem. I works great. I bought a 1/4" quilting foot separately which is great, however the machine came with an assortment of feet that can be used. The machine also came with a large plastic table attachment, and that is a big help. I used the machine on a dining table and spread the quilt out on the table while binding. With the plastic table attachment I didn't experience any tugging or pulling the stitching off track. ( I am a total beginner). However, I was very happy with the results compared to my other sewing machine. The machine has a simple bobbin winder that works just fine. No problems with that. The bobbin is an L size?, slightly bigger than my other small brother machine. The bobbin setup looks very much like my HQ long arm bobbin setup, just scaled down a bit in size. The threading is old fashion, except it does have a mechanism that threads, or actually pulls, the thread through the eye of the needle. That's very much appreciated. The machine has an LED light, a thread cutting button, and a reverse lever for back stitching. So far the machine has worked flawlessly. My girlfriend likes the machine also, she's much more experienced than I am at sewing and has a babylock and a old bernina. I haven't used the knee lift mechanism yet, not sure I really need too. Finally there are some extra attachments for adding a fence for aligning material up against when sewing. I don't know how that works, don't really care at this point. There aren't any directions for those accessories. Anyway I am very pleased with the sewing machine and I highly recommend it for simple straight sewing. If that is what you are looking for, this machine should be perfect.

  • Awesome home quilting machine

The PQ-1500SL Quilting machine is fantastic. It was very easy to use out of the box, and has made my quilting efforts a dream. The extra features like auto cutting of the thread reduces time trying to cut all the thread ends. The machine handles cone thread without any issue at all. I highly suggest this machine for any home quilter. I also want to say the vendor, Ken's Sewing Center, made my purchase even better. They were quick to ship and offered any assistance I made need with my new machine.

  • Own PQ1500S for my business

This machine is dependable and durable. I have owned my first since 2010 and have put over 6 million stitches on it. In this time I have replaced the bobbin winder tire. I routinely oil and clean. Other than that it has not been serviced. I sew weighted blankets routinely weighing 20lbs each for my business - Vest Friends. This machine handles it without any issues. I also sew denim jackets without issue. The trim on denim jackets can be 7 layers - still not a problem! It doesn't even hesitate. My only wish - they made another one just like the 1500S, but with a few basic stitches and a buttonhole maker. No regrets here!

  • A dream home machine for the experienced sewer

I've been sewing for almost 20 years for fun and for work. I've owned a home Brother machine for 15 years and as good as these machines are I needed a new one. I wanted and industrial but have no space for the table! so this one is perfect because I can move it around as I need it. It is quiet and fast and the stitches a perfect! The only CON would be the price, it is pretty expensive, but again, knowing that the brand is so reliable, and after a year of hesitation, I got it and I love it.

  • Made with Quilters in mind!

Love the perfect stright stitch, speed, harp space and features made with Quilters in mind. The feed dogs drop from a control in the front and foot pressure is controlled right from the front. I love it, pieced a top in no time with the 1/4 foot and stitched it in the ditch with the walking foot. Quilt done in 3 days.

  • Excellent straight stitch machine.

A real work horse addition to my alterations shop. It goes through those tricky, multi-layer jeans hems like a hot knife through butter and also handles lightweight fabrics just as well. I have two of these and use them for the majority of work in the shop. I love the fact that it's a heavy-duty mechanical machine but still includes a thread cutting button and a needle-down option.

  • I love this machine!

Strong, quiet workhorse! Easy to set up and get running. I love the large throat...9"across and 6" high. It is sturdy and I know I will be able to use it for years to fmq my quilts, and that it can handle bulky projects!

  • Great for piecing

I bought this great roomy machine for piecing and free motion quilting. I have some fantastic machines with fancy stitches, but this brother is giving me a very accurate piecing. It was really worth the money. The knee lift is well positioned, and the bobbin is easily accessed. So roomy and smooth. I have used it every day since it's arrival. My only complaint is, I didn't get one sooner.
