This unit organizes up to 400 CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs and uses the online gracenote database to populate title, year, director and genre information into it's memory. This process takes quite a bit of time, and is sometimes unsuccessful. But manual entry is an option. Also, I have had 2 discs that the player could not play, but they are new and work fine in another player. This unit has great quality video and sound. Overall I am pleased with it.

I absolutely love this player. I have 2 and 1 Bdp-cx960. Both players are great. Load and watch. Although it takes a couple of minutes to load a Blu-ray movie, the ease of being able to scroll through the library and pick what you want to watch makes it well worth the wait. If you hard-wire to the internet, it will automatically access GraceNotes and load the DVD/Blu-ray disc information and jacket cover (if available). You will get the name of the movie, the year it came out, the rating, director, actor and genre. It also allows you to add genres, change titles, etc. And if it brings up wrong info, you can reload and select a different title (if available). Sony no longer does updates, and newer titles may not be available for several weeks, or even months. So every now and then go back and reload to see if the tile is available. (Will not erase any previous information unless you select available title information from GraceNotes). Plays beautifully. WARNING! Most parts are not available for repair as they stopped making these in 2011.Read full review

This is a good product. Image quality is excellent. The convenience of having up to 400 Blu-ray (or DVD) discs ready to play is great. I'm glad I purchased it. Be aware that this player will not play discs without a working remote. The remote sent with the play was non-functioning. The player played fine through the previews, but when it got to the main disc menu, there is no way of selecting "play" without a remote. I tried every button on the player, as well as combinations, but nothing could get a disc to play. I contacted the seller and he agreed to provide an after-market remote. It has a clunky interface (a Sony remote would have been much better, but I couldn't find one on the internet), but it does the job. Make sure before buying one of these that the seller certifies that the remote works.Read full review

Great way to file all those BR/DVDs and get them put away. DVD player is a bit slow when starting up and loading, but once movie is going, it works great and picture quality is outstanding. The Gracenotes for cataloging the movies works very well, except for new releases. I have two units and love them.

I have two of these machines are they are great, expect to replace the lasers though if you are buying them off E-bay. Most machines now their lasers are coming to EOF & will give disk load errors when lasers are bad. This is an easy job to do.. for someone a little experienced with electronics, but takes a while as virtually the entire machine needs to be dismantled, The lasers are readily available on ebay. If you wish to re-zone to multi for the DVD portion this can be done by buying a 'all for one' URC-7040 programming it with hack code and pointing it at the CX7000 on power on. For Blu portion to play other regions a hardware hack is required, or a circuit board from Sony for Euro zones.

I decided to buy this blue ray due to the additional storage capability. The unit is very large and bulky. However, it has nice aesthetics and It plays nicely. The main problem thus far is that it is 'extremely' slow. Once you turn it on you are waiting for quite some time before it is fully on, recognizes the discs, and is ready to play. The earlier Sony models and other brands that I own are much, much faster for some reason. With those you turn them on, and pow...they are ready to play. This model reminds me of the old school, beat-up 1980's car disc players with cd's in magazines. It would drag, and take a long time to load and play. It would be nice for Sony to re-invent this concept with a faster internal processor. Overall, I would say this unit is much too expensive (even the used players as of writing this review) for its very limited processing speed.Read full review

I love how easy the Sony 7000es is to use, I also have two Sony 960s and they work equally well. I was able to reduce Blu-ray movies on my movie racks and shelves, it's pre-streaming equipment, the difference is I own all the movies I'm loading and no monthly fees. These players are located in three of my viewing areas and I got one for my wife so she can add all her movies and shows and watch them when she wants. It's not every day that you can find a product that meets the wife approval factor. I use the other 960 to hold all my CDs, love the way I can see what I'm looking for. Gracenotes can find 89% of my media, it has trouble finding some recent movies I don't no why, I just go in and edit information, easy fix. I'm not a huge fan of Sony's newer stuff, loved what they use to build. Great product, wish they would make a 4k 400 movie player.Read full review

I've been wanting one of these for years, got it a reasonable price so I pulled the trigger. Don't have the instruction manual, need to figure out how to label the disks.

Shipping medium heavy items to PR becomes difficult because of the mishandling by the post office and the poor packaging techniques available. Make sure to INSURE anything heavy and valuable. The record player is complicated to.use and may reject discs that work well on other 400 disc players. Connecting it to the network particulsrly it requires cable connection, no wifi. The connection provides an excellent way to maintain order in the huge 400 disc collection

I didn’t give this player 5 stars as the 960 & 70000 don’t have a port to plug in a keyboard to write titles, genre ect.,but a very awkward on screen keyboard which takes triple the time. Know without a remote you cannot use the player, so I would suggest to buy one with an original remote or locate one on EBay prior to purchase. They are like hens teeth to find (not available thru Sony) and expensive if you find one. Other than that it’s a good player. I am updating the review as I didn’t read far enough in the manual. It doesn’t have a port for a keyboard as it hooks to the internet and Gracenote database loads all that Imformation for you. I just added the 5th star.
