Its old technology chosen to do two specific jobs; hiking gps (with a Navman 3450 sleeve)and an archery app. Both jobs can be done on an iPhone, but I don't need the monthly cost or the rest of an iPhones capabilities. Verdict is that the iPaq does the job within the limitation of the technology; response to keystrokes sometimes slow, annoying keypresses when putting into jacket, backlight sometimes comes on unexpectedly. Only two niggles:-Battery duration is poor - less than 3 hours with GPS sleeve. Would be manageable if swapping batteries didn't sometimes force a reset..
I bought this Hewlett Packard iPAQ h5550 PDA to replace my Palm PDA ,because it is no longer available. The IPAQ H5550 is supposed to be the "Swiss Army Knife" of PDA/Handhelds , but it`s graphics are nowhere near as good as the Palm , nor is the colour ( no adjustment here either). The audio ( alarms ) is pathetically low on full volume .The battery gives you just over an hour, the included basic programs are a pathetic shallow version of something that could be useful. The Palm was easy to use , right out of the box , whereas everything on the IPAQ is just damned awkward ( what did I expect from Microsoft & co.?). Unfortunately , dedicated PDA`s are a thing of the past , as most if not all modern PDA`S are just a small feature on a mobile phone .
This PDA is OK if you intend to enter all details manually. It would not synch with with current Windows so was of no use to me whatsoever. In fact, this type of PDA is so ' old hat' that it is not worth buying. Mine is getting thrown out........
A marvellous little machine. I use it for my address book. Would be lost without it....... R
I bought this pda for spares, as my pda charger port needed replacing. i put a battery in it .. well it worked better than my old one, so im using it , the price i paid for it was cheeper than buying spares, it was a realy low price and service was first class, this is what ebay should be like.. thanks john
