The Praktika Super TL1000 35mm Film Camera is a fairly simple camera from 25 plus years ago. I owned several in the 1980s to teach my children the rudimentarys of photography. I am now revisiting those times with a fully functioning camera of that period. The better quality of modern film has provided me with some good quality pictures from my several field trips.
for the ones who want to use old slr cams, I always recommend m42 cameras and lenses. they are among the best lenses ever made by takumar, zeiss and cheap russians. Especially for black and white shooters, the m42 lenses generally offers perfect contrast. I actually find better contrast and sharpness than o pentax and canon. among tyhe m42 bodies, I cant recommend russian origin cameras like zenit. they are cheap, however, they built cheaply. their parts are poorly blended and sticked. the shutter may stuck and of course, their lightmeters and battery compartments are a big failure. On the other hand, praktica's are mechanically perfect bodies with more metal parts and steel shutter.they are generally silver finished so there won't be any color shanges (zenit's black finish generally goes away). Yeah the finish is not so important, but that’s a clue about built quality. Prakticas seem to last forever. Indeedn, their lightmeter works fine with appropriate batteries. I strongly recommend to buy ttl prakticas without selenim meters. selenium is not trustworthy. I have not used pentax spotmatic but I hope that is also another winner but they have generally higher prices. if you want to take photography with m42 lenses on films, the best solution has the least price by chance:)Read full review
One of the best analogs cameras ever! and with the pentacon 50/1.8 you get the best results I like everthing in this camera just the weight but then again you get used to it; most definitly a life time camera!
