wat a load of tosh this film is.....i was so disapointed ...im a mad zombie fan but to call this a zombie film is totally wrong
Pontypool is a clever film with a new concept (kind of a cross between the happening, the signal, the crazies and dead air but not the same). Set in a radio station this film holds you more with the skript more than the visuals, you could almost put this film on an audio cd and it would be nearly as enjoyable. Sometimes what you cannot see but can visualise in your head can have more of an impact, and this film works on these grounds. The basic plot is that a viris is infecting humans brainwaves triggered by words in the english language.. yeah sounds stange and it is! but it works really well, we join a cowboy themed dj with 2 women (his producer and p.a or somthing on those grounds) during a manic outbreak of local violence in the canadian town of pontypool, what they first think to be a hoax turnes out to be a scary affair, and althought we dont get to see much blood or violence we get to hear enough of it through the discriptions of people phoning into the radio station. Pontypool is described on the box as a zombie movie however this is not the case, though the infected that we do get to see in the film do bare resemblance in tendancy and appearance to that of the common zombie. This is a good film,I would recomend seeing it if you like a change from the normal crazzie person horror. I will also add that if you wait till the end of the credits there is a totaly random scene that is cringe worthy -still its all good fun! (-:Read full review
The Dvd cover reads "Best Zombie Film of the Year" I didn't think so and neither did my wife. I found the film to be slow and has not grabbed my interest. I think I will watch it again in a few days and if I find that I was unfair in this rating I will re-edit it otherwise the film didn't do it for me.
the film itself was very watchable, and quite entertaining, sadly, not realy a zombie film, only saw 1,and 1 woman whom had caught the virus, that was it!set in a radio station, with continuious on air brodcast, during the virus setting in to the local inhabitants, could have done with a bit more action, wouldnt watch again.....
