Additional InformationVisionary director Spike Jonze (BEING JOHN MALKOVICH) brings Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book to the big screen with the help of hipster icon Dave Eggers (A HEARTBREAKING WORK OF STAGGERING GENIUS), who teamed with Jonze to pen the adapted screenplay. A mixture of real actors, computer animation, and live puppeteering, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE follows the adventures of a young boy named Max (Max Records) as he enters the world of the Wild Things, a race of strange and enormous creatures who gradually turn the young boy into their king. The film features the voice talents of James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, and Forest Whitaker; who provide the fantastical creatures with distinct personalities, reflecting the complex emotions prevailing the mind of troubled, young Max. This mix of adult introspection and childlike charm is sure to make WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE a family classic for generations to come.
ReviewsEmpire - A film for anyone who's ever climbed trees, grazed knees or basked in the comfort of a parent's sympathy as they've pulled you off the ground crying. It'll make your inner child run wild., New York Times - WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is an alternately perfect and imperfect if always beautiful adaptation of the Maurice Sendak childrenÆs book, Screen International - The novelty of looking at the creatures never wears off, and Jonze uses an inquisitive handheld style that works, SFX - It's a divisive and sometimes difficult film, but if you let it into your heart, you'll end up grateful., Total Film - A poignant dissection of youth with nine-foot furry monsters, gorgeous production design, frenetic camerawork and a playful, wistful score from Karen O. Never mind the little ones. This beauty will have most grown-ups blubbing., Rolling Stone - Spike Jonze is just the visionary talent to nurture Sendak's tale of a boy who creates a fantasy world full of wild things that embody his own fears bout the real one., Variety - Fleet of foot, emotionally attuned to its subject and instinctively faithful to its celebrated source, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE earns a lot of points for its hand-crafted look.

  • Unusual and enthralling

So different from the usual diet of super fast paced, extreme special effects and shoot everything films. This film is slow paced and a bit odd but if you give it a chance it has a lot to offer. The interaction of the young boy and his family and then the " creatures" he meets is very special. I loved it and hope others will as well.
