This is my 3rd Rickenbacker (also have 330 and 360 6 string models) and if you want that Rickenbacker sound, then this is the place to get it. This guitar plays and sounds very nice, it has the classic 12 string Ricky chime. Everything is high quality and it stays in tune well. The action is low and mine only needed some minor setup work to accommodate my personal tastes. The neck/ fingerboard is smaller and narrower than something like a Strat or Les Paul but it's the same as your regular 330/360 6 so it's not different when compared to other Ricks. If you have monster hands, then this neck may feel too small and narrow for you but even with my large (but not monster) hands, it just feels like a Rickenbacker to me. The 'cresting wave' solid body shape is a nice change of pace from the usual 330/360 semi hollow body Ricks and I don't notice that much difference in the overall sound/tone between this and those models although the tone from the high gain pickups is more modern, i.e. bassy and 'ballsy' than a vintage Rick with the vintage toaster pickups. My only complaint is that the sound is pretty muddy in the neck position but a little amp tweaking could probably fix that...I've noticed that with all of the Ricks I've owned. Everything else is top notch, it's very comfortable and well balanced for a 12 string, holds tune well, and sounds great. These are pricey but it's an American made classic that should make a good investment and a great sounding and playing one at that.Read full review
I always wanted to own and play a Rick, in large part because of some of the bands/musicians that have played one: Lennon, Petty, the Byrds etc. I love the design & color: it's one of the classiest looking guitars ever made. When I plugged in, it sounded good when playing chords and that was using the mono output jack (did not have stereo capabilities). I hated the neck, circumfirance is too small and there is a coating of varnish on the fret board which makes it very hard to play leads, similar to a maple neck, which I also happen to dislike. Overall, I think it's more of a rhythm guitarist guitar rather than a lead player. I'll stick with Gibson guitars. Thanks
Splendida chitarra.
like on all rickenbackers, freting around the nut tends to get choked. otherwise super sounding guitar
